I’m Wendy Russell ~ Quiltmaker ~ Passionate about Essential Oils ~ Lover of Quotes and a Clever Quip
I have been a quiltmaker since my very first class, a couple of decades back in time. That class was about learning how to hand quilt. I had put together some small blocks for a baby quilt, and wanted to know what to do next.
My first real quilt was a Lone Star, and I made it using cardboard templates. Too late, while reading the instructional book I had purchased to make this quilt, I learned that this was not a project recommended for beginners. However, I was undaunted.
I still have this quilt and often bring it to beginner classes that I am teaching to show just how bad a first quilt can be — cut off points, mismatched seams and terrible quilting. Yet, I look on this quilt with pride as my first “masterpiece”. Since that time I have created many completed quilts, unfinished quilt tops, blocks with no homes yet and taught new quilters the basics, or how to move on to more advanced techniques. And … let’s not get started on how big my fabric stash is now (but every quiltmaker will understand that statement).
On my sister site — Patchwork Square — I like to give back to the quilting community by providing free quilt block patterns for you to download. So please use them and enjoy your own quilting journey.
The Essential Oil Advocate
I think the universe was trying to tell me something. Several members of my family were suffering from a variety of illnesses when I saw a program about how essential oils can aid in the recovery and often cure an illness. I continued to research about essential oils and became fascinated. Then one day, I had a medical appointment and, lo and behold, there was to be a class on using essential oils that evening. (I got little chills up my spine.) It was like someone or something was trying to get my attention. I attended and never looked back.
Since that time, I have used these certified pure therapeutic grade oils daily – for my own well-being and that of my friends (even the four-legged kind), but also to create personal products (such as creams, lotions, toothpaste) and my own cleaning products and laundry soap. Then, of course, my culinary creations have never been more flavourful or healthy. No more chemicals in my life if I have a say.
If you would like to join me in this same sort of adventure and get these same kinds of quality oils and benefits for yourself, contact me and we will talk.
The Word Lover
I’m a grammar/spelling nerd. Yes, I admit it. I have always loved reading and, in particular, quotations have always fascinated me. (I especially get a chuckle when I read quotes by Oscar Wilde or Mark Twain. (Those men had such a wit and often, the recipient of their comment did not even realize that he or she was being insulted.)
An ongoing project can be found on my second website — Quotation Corner — where I add quotations of note, whether funny, insightful or inspirational, whenever I get the chance.
My Essential Passions will be a place for me to share these passions of mine with you, all in one place. I hope you enjoy this website as I explore all of these components with you.
Let the adventure begin!
